Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to lead and expand our sales team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in staffing and managing regional sales representatives, mentoring team members, and driving consistent sales performance. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to align sales efforts with company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Building: Recruit, onboard, and build a high-performing team of regional sales representatives.
- Mentorship and Training: Provide mentorship to new sales representatives, ensuring their success and professional growth. Deliver ongoing training to improve product knowledge and sales techniques.
- CRM Management: Ensure the sales team effectively uses the CRM system for tracking leads, opportunities, and performance metrics.
- Forecasting and Planning: Analyze market trends, sales data, and pipeline metrics to provide accurate sales forecasts and inform strategic planning.
- Compensation Planning: Collaborate with leadership to design and implement fair, motivating compensation and incentive plans for the sales team.
- Sales Review Meetings: Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales review meetings to monitor progress, address challenges, and set goals.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyze sales metrics and reports to identify trends, develop strategies, and improve team performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product development, and customer service teams to align sales strategies with company objectives.
- Customer Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term business partnerships.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement sales strategies that drive revenue growth and market expansion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in sales or business development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing sales teams, particularly regional representatives.
- Proficiency in CRM software and other sales tools.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in forecasting and sales pipeline management.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience in developing and managing sales compensation and incentive plans.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with regional sales teams and clients.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Experience in defense industry or medical product sales is a plus
- A results-oriented mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
